It is with regret that we report the recent death of the following NARPO members:
Marion Joyce Crookes, police widow. Died 21 August. Widow of Sgt Richards Crookes, Richard service in the County Force and retired in 1962. He spent some time on Traffic at the garage at West Bridgford Police Station. On promotion to Sergeant he was posted to Carlton. On retirement he ran a garage at Mapperley.
Peter Chapman Pc 1744. Died 21st August. Peter started his career at Beeston, then rural at Keyworth. He then transferred to the Dog Section and became a Full Trainer and Instructor.
Dorothy Jane Copeland. Police Widow. Died 12th July. Widow of Frank who joined the County Police. He served at a number
of Stations, including Newark and rural. He completed
his career working in the Control Room at Epperstone
and Sherwood Lodge. He died 8 years ago.
Kathleen Joan Morgan, Police Widow. Died 14th July. Widow of John Crofton Morgan (Jack)
Jack joined the City Police and attained the rank of
Sergeant. He worked on Northern Division and after
retiring on health grounds was office man at Russell
Drive. He died 25 years ago.
Constance May Johnson, Police widow. Died 28th June. Widow of Barry Johnson who was a Superintendent working at Epperstone and
Sherwood Lodge in communications. He died 18 years
ago.
George Dunn, Police Sergeant 87. Died 21st June. George joined the City Police at Southern Division and on promotion moved to Northern.
Beryl June Briggs, Police Widow. Died 9th June. Widow of Charles Cedrick Briggs.
Olive Verdum Mann, Police widow, died 8th June.
Brian Haslam, Inspector, Nottinghamshire. Died 10th May. Brian joined the County Force and served at Hucknall, Papplewick and in the Force Control Room at Epperstone . Doris Mabel Noble, police widow. Died 7th April. Widow of Reg. Noble who completed his Police career at Mansfild as

Laura Lewis, Police Widow. Died April 4th. Widow of Chief Inspector Clifford Lewis
Margerhita Mona Staley, Police Widow. Died 3rd April. Widow of Sgt Jack Staley. Bertha Elizabeth Leggot, Police Widow. Died 1st April. Widow of Edward (Ted) Leggot. William Lewis, Pc 265 Nottingham. Died 30th March. Bill joined the Nottingham City Police after serving in the Royal Marines for 7 years. He served mainly at St. Anns. He played in the Force Band and was the Band Master from 1983 to 31 March 1993. He was also the conductor in the Police Male Voice Choir. Bill suffered from Parkinsons Disease which eventually led to his death. Eric Bramley, Inspector. Died 24th March. Eric was a larger than life character. He served at Welbeck and was a recruiting Sgt at Shire Hall. On promotion to Inspector he served at Central Division. A true gentleman and good old fashioned Policeman. Kenneth John Humphrey, PC 360. Died 27th Feb. Ken served on Northern Division and then moved to Bingham. He retired on health grounds after he fell down steps during a call out to Blotts Night Club. On the day he retired he suffered a serious road accident at West Bridgford.
